Kathy Kroger’s life has been been largely defined by the desire to explore and to channel inspiration from the world, often leading her many miles off the beaten path.
Based in Aspen, Colorado for almost 30 years, the Arizona native worked for design firms including Slifer Designs, Kristeen Church Interiors and Consortium Architects. But her true inspiration comes from a passion for travel and design that led her to the farthest reaches of the world.
In 2009, she moved her entire family to Bali, Indonesia where she founded Katherine Rally Textiles, working with local artisans to create extraordinary handmade fabrics using the ancient craft of batik.
“I love taking organic cues and drawing from the environment I’m in,” Kathy says. “So my love of textiles translated to a textile company. It was a natural trajectory for me.”
After living in Bali for five years where she designed and built a house for her family, Kathy returned home to Aspen to channel the culmination of her travels and inspiration from living abroad into interior design. “For all the exotic places I’ve been, it’s the mountains I find most grounding,” she says. “Now it’s time to focus on ways I can deliver that same sense of ‘coming home’ to my clients.”
